Maugeri Wins 2006 Intrepid.            Paul Maugeri of Berm Studios was voted by the EACA membership as the winner of the 2006 Intrepid Award.       Maugeri was recognized not only for his recent contributions to exhibitor customer services, but for his career of service to the improvement of exhibitor servicing in the exhibit transportation and freight segment of the trade show industry.
 
Maugeri may be best known for his years of hosting the “Great Freight Debates” at TS2.   These lively panel discussions did much to bring together the powers to be in the exhibit freight business and to identify those aspects of trade show freight which needed attention and improvement.

McEntee, Alacqua and Amodeo Elected to EACA Hall of Fame.
  Jack McEntee, Pat Alacqua and Tony Amodeo, the founders of I&D, Inc (now known as Nth Degree) were elected by the members of the EACA to the 2006 Class of the EACA Hall of Fame.
 
McEntee, Alacqua and Amodeo were recognized for their contributions to the development of the “independent” labor contracting industry and for the many innovations that they developed in the process of making I&D the leading provider of labor contracting services.

ExpoServices Takes Gold at Showfloor Olympics.
    Terry Kennedy and Syd Hickey, representing ExpoServices USA , came away with Gold Medal honors, and the $500 first place prize money, at the Showfloor Olympics competition at TS2 this week.   The win by ExpoServices interrupts the four year winning streak that had been established by the teams from Freeman.
 
Silver medal honors, and the $250 second place prize money,  went to the Freeman team of Tony Sirico and Mike Linz.    Bronze medals, and $100 prize money, went to George Wyatt and Ron Bailey of On Location.
 
The EACA congratulates all its Olympics contestants at the 2006 Showfloor Olympics.
 
IMTS Reminder   The deadline for EAC registrations on the 2006 IMTS show is
August 4, 2006 .    All EACA members are encourage to login to the EAC registration system on the EACA web site to be sure that all your clients have submitted registrations for you to perform service at this year’s show.
 
IMTS Block Package Pricing.   New for IMTS in 2006 is a package of services including carpet, visqueen, cleaning, drayage, rigging labor and equipment and standard furniture. This Custom Block Package applies to all exhibitors.    
A note to all EACA members is that the Custom Block Package cannot be broken up where part is paid by a third party and part by the exhibitor, or by multiple third parties.     However, a third party can be authorized and take the entire billing.      Any EACA member that plans to make such arrangements for a client at IMTS must first submit their third party authorization form.

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT


SAVE THE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Chicago Chapters of EDPA and EACA will host their 4th Annual Charity Golf Outing on
Monday, August 7, 2006 .  The event will take place, once again at Maple Meadows Golf Course in Wood Dale Illinois.  There will be a shot gun start at 1:00 pm followed by a dinner reception with raffle and prizes.
 
Total proceeds of the event will be contributed to the recipients of this year’s Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic,  which will be held at Berkeley Hills Country Club in
Duluth Georgia , October 9, 2006 .

Boston Convention & Exhibition Center settles with designers for $22 million   <Expo Web News>  The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) settled out of court with the building's designers for $22 million to cover alleged design flaws, which include a leaky roof drainage system, faulty heating and cooling, frozen pipes and a poor public address system, according to the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA).

EDPA NorCal Chapter- Annual Golf Tournament .   EDPA Northern California Chapter is planning their Annual Golf Tournament at the Crystal Spring Golf Course in Burlingame on August 2, 2006 .         The tournament is being organized to benefit both the RSMGC and the EDPA Foundation.

NRA To Stay in   Chicago .   The National Restaurant Association announced last week that they intend to stay in Chicago for another five years

Marriott bans smoking in all hotel properties   <Expo Web News    Marriott International has announced that, as of September, all of its U.S. and Canadian properties will be smoke-free. The policy change will affect more than 2,300 Marriott properties, including Marriott, JW Marriott, The Ritz-Carlton, Renaissance, Courtyard, Residence Inn, SpringHill Suites, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott ExecuStay brands.

Publisher's statement.     The Showfloor Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor."  

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
