EACA and EDPA to Host Joint Meeting in San Diego!      The EACA and EDPA will hold a Joint Meeting in San Diego at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina on Nov. 29 – Dec. 1, 2006. 
The EACA is organizing its first ever Winter Meeting, in conjunction with the EDPA’s 54th Annual Conference and Supplier Showcase.  Complete meeting details and registration information will be available to all EACA members in next week’s Buzz.
 
ASTRO Corrects EAC Deadline.   The EACA has been notified that there was an error in the previously reported deadline for EAC registrations for the 2006 ASTRO show.   The correct EAC deadline for ASTRO is October 2, 2006.    
All EACA members are encouraged to login to the EAC registration system on the EACA web site to be sure that all your clients have submitted registrations for you to perform service at this year’s show.
 
Take Advantage of Early Registration Discounts for RSMGC. Speaking of advantaged rates, the Early Bird Discount for the 2006 RSMGC is available to all those who plan to participate or sponsor this year’s event.
 
Go to the RSMGC website at www.rsgmc.org
  to find all the information you’ll need about  the 2006 Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic.     And it you register to golf or sponsor the event by August 31 you’ll receive a 5% Early Bird discount for your donation.

RSMGC Seeks Silent Auction Items. The organizers of the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic (Oct. 9 at Berkeley Hills CC in Atlanta, GA) request that all participants, sponsors, and supporters take a look in their marketing closets for any items that can be donated to the Silent Auction that takes place at this year’s event.
 
Past RSMGC Silent Auction items have included memorabilia, collectibles, sporting event tickets, sporting equipment (particularly golf equipment), cases of wine, and other high value products.
 
All donations are welcome, and can be directed to Robert Laarhoven at Laarhoven Design.  For more information on the RSMGC Silent Auction email Robert at r.laarhoven@laarhovendesign.com.
 
EACA TCR System Charter Period Expires August 31. All EACA members are reminded that the Charter subscription period for the EACA Tradeshow Credit Reporting system expires on August 31, 2006.

Any member that subscribes to the EACA TCR system by August 31 will enjoy advantaged subscription rates in perpetuity.
 
Pack Expo Reminder   The deadline for EAC registrations for the 2006 ASTRO show is September 18, 2006.

Support the RSMGC – Wear your 2006 Bracelet. The organizers of the RSMGC have come up with a new way for EACA members to support this year’s event.   There are RSMGC bracelets available for a donation of $5 each.  These attractive green bracelets (like the Livestrong bracelets you might have seen) are available from distributors across the country.

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT

New Chicago Chapter Leadership

It has been announced that Joe Mondelli will now head up the leadership of the Chicago Chapter of  the EACA.   Joe was one of the original founders of the IEACA in Chicago and brings a great amount of vision, wisdom and experience to the mission of EACA Chicago.  

Any members that would like to contact Joe can do so on his cell phone at 219-928-3233.  Additional office and fax numbers will be available in a week or so, and will be published in a future issue of the Showfloor Buzz.


MPEA No Smoking Enforcement Announcement

The MPEA will be strictly enforcing the No Smoking Policy during the IMTS Show, and thereafter.  All EACA members, as well as all contractors working in McCormick Place and the Navy Pier should take note.  Citation books have been ordered and will be issued to all offenders.  
 
McCormick Place Fire Safety & Security along with reps from the Contract Security Company, Show Management and GES will be forming teams to rove each building looking for violators.  Smoking is only permissible outside the buildings.

And Then There Were Two     <Tradeshow Week>    After nearly two decades as the premier event for the telecommunications industry, SUPERCOMM met its demise in 2005 when the two organizations that jointly organized it couldn't agree to continue. In its wake two new shows launched this year, and now officials at both, the Telecommunications Industry Assn.'s GLOBALCOMM and USTelecom Assn.'s TelecomNEXT, say they'll be back for more in 2007.

DAN MEROLLA JOINS FREEMAN IN SAN FRANCISCO      Dan Merolla has joined Freeman as national sales manager in San Francisco.  Merolla has over 18 years of industry experience, most recently working for GES Expo in sales management. Prior to GES, he was with Consolidated Freightways in the San Francisco area.

Caren Leaves SMG for Trump Entertainment   <Tradeshow Week>  Gregg Caren, currently SMG vice president of operations and business development, is leaving the convention center management company to become vice president of hotel sales for Trump Entertainment Resorts in Atlantic City, N.J. He will oversee sales for the Trump Taj Mahal, Trump Plaza and Trump Marina.

Publisher's statement.     The Showfloor Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor."  

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com .

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
