It’s Not Too Late to Contribute to the RSMGC!! If you haven’t already made your contribution to support the 2006 Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic please do that soon! While spots in the golf tournament are gone, there are still many opportunities to support this year’s event with your Sponsor and/or Family Patron contributions. Avalon Exhibits to Merge with Art Guild. <Exhibit City News> Effective January 1, Avalon Exhibits or New Castle, Deleware and Art Guild, Inc of Thorofare, NJ will merge. The new larger entity will continue to offer the same three services – design and management of corporate tradeshow programs; retail display and fixture programs; and construction of museum exhibits. New Fun Features at RSMGC 2006! The 2006 Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic which takes place on October 9 at the Berkeley Hills CC in Duluth, GA has a couple of new wrinkles to this year’s event. In addition to the Putting Contest which debuted at last year’s event, there will be a Long Drive Contest this year. Those that don’t have success Putting for Dough can Drive for Show when they bring out those 500cc toaster ovens on a stick and try to hit the clubhouse from the Red Tees on King 9. As in past years there will be trophies for the low gross foursomes (First, Second and Third place) in this scramble format event, along with prizes for Closest to the Pin, and Long Drive holes. But this year there will also be a Consolation Prize for the foursome with the highest gross score – free golf lessons from The PGA Store! Alongside the golf, the Round Robin Tennis tournament promises to be a more exciting event this year. Supported by Founding Sponsors – Champion Nationwide Contractor and Metropolitan Exposition Services; Lunch Sponsor – Kuehne Nagel; and On Court Beveeage Sponsor – AV Network; this year’s tennis players will be treated to a great day of tennis, refreshments, prizes and fun! EACA and EDPA to Host Joint Meeting in San Diego! The EACA and EDPA will hold a Joint Meeting in San Diego at the San Diego Marriott Hotel & Marina on Nov. 29 – Dec. 1, 2006.
The EACA is organizing its first ever Winter Meeting, in conjunction with the EDPA’s 54th Annual Conference and Supplier Showcase. CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT
Labor Committee Meeting
EACA Chicago Chapter advises all its members that there will be a Labor Committee meeting on October 19, 2006. The MPEA Labor Committee meeting will include the CEO and general manager of MPEA , representation from major shows that utilize McCormick Place, representation from the unions that service the MPEA, representation from the eneral service contractors in Chicago, as well as representation from EACA Chicago – namely Joe Mondelli and Susan Renner of The TERM Group.

MPEA No Smoking Enforcement Announcement
The MPEA will be strictly enforcing the No Smoking Policy during the IMTS Show, and thereafter. All EACA members, as well as all contractors working in McCormick Place and the Navy Pier should take note. Citation books have been ordered and will be issued to all offenders. McCormick Place Fire Safety & Security along with reps from the Contract Security Company, Show Management and GES will be forming teams to rove each building looking for violators. New Labor Agreements with Riggers and Decorators also Apply to Rosemont <Trade Show Executive> The new collective bargaining agreements recently announced between two labor unions and the general service contractors serving Chicago’s McCormick Place are also big news in Rosemont. Terms of the contract also apply to shows held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont with its exclusive general service contractor, Rosemont Exposition Services, according to Dave Houston, RES president and general manager.
David Korse Leaving IDG <Tradeshow Week> IDG World Expo's CEO and president, David Korse, announced he's leaving the company, effective Nov. 3. He's been with the company since 2003, helping grow tech shows Macworld and LinuxWorld, among others, and told Tradeshow Week he's "coming home" to California where he grew up and he has a few options to consider.
Southern Cal EDPA Sponsors Golf Event. The new Southern Cal Chapter of EDPA is hosting its first annual golf tournament on October 23 at the Westridge Golf Club (LaHabra, CA). This shotgun style tournament will begin at 1pm and will conclude with an awards/dinner banquet.
Proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic and the EDPA Scholarship Fund. For more information go to

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing. Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.
