Convention All Services Merges with Momentum Management.     The Showfloor Buzz has learned that a merger has taken place between two long time EACA members – Convention All Services and Momentum Management.
 
All contact information for Momentum in Alpharetta, GA (outside Atlanta) will remain the same.   Meanwhile,  the Convention All Services office in Addison, IL (outside Chicago) will now take the Momentum Management name, and email addresses for Tom Cassell (tcassell@momentummgt.com ), Bruce Fisher (bfisher@momentummgt.com
), and Bart Cassell (bcassell@momentummgt.com ) will also reflect this change.

IHA EAC Deadline is February 2, 2007      A reminder to all EACA members that the deadline for EAC registration for IHA is February 2, 2007.     Please be sure to login to the EACA site on “EAC registration” to insure that all your clients have registered your company to perform services at this show.
 
Please note that there will also be a pre-con meeting for all registered EACs for Tuesday, February 27th at 10:00a.m.
 
All IHA-registered EACs are expected to be in attendance at this important meeting to pick-up your access credentials for IHA.   Please mark the time and date on your calendar.

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT
 
MPEA Sponsors Customer Service Training for Focus One

The MPEA is sponsoring customer service training for its Focus One employees starting this week in Chicago.  Linda McKinney (formerly of Freeman) has developed the program and is presenting the training for Focus One employees, with Joe Mondelli, EACA Chicago Chapter President in attendance.
 
Reorganization in Rosemont Announced as Jim Freeman Retires
 
<Trade Show Executive>   A new year for Rosemont will begin with new management for both the convention center and convention bureau following the announcement on Jan. 4 that James Freeman was retiring as general manager of the Donald E. Stephens Convention and Conference Center.
 
Christopher Stephens was named general manager to replace Freeman at the convention center, effective immediately, while William Anderson was selected to fill Stephens’ role as general manager of the Rosemont Convention and Tourism Bureau.

 
NEW ORLEANS CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT

All Contractor badges issued in 2006 will be accepted through the end of 2007 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center .  All other provisions of the MCC Access Policy remain in place.  
 
New badges will be required in 2008.

Former Show Organizer and Marine to Head Up Chicago’s  MPEA   <Trade Show Executive > Juan Ochoa, 36, a former marine who launched his own business expo for the Hispanic market, began his new duties in January as the new CEO of Chicago’s Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, which owns and operates McCormick Place and Navy Pier .
Illinois Governor Rod D. Blagojevich appointed Ochoa to succeed Leticia Peralta Davis who stepped down to pursue other business opportunities. The governor hailed Peralta Davis for her work in shepherding  McCormick Place’s major expansion efforts and overseeing critical labor negotiations.

New GM named at Javits
.  <M&C Midweek News>  At the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, a number of promotions have been announced to fill the shoes of retired general manager Myles McGrane.  Tony Bracco, the former assistant general manager, is the new general manager.   Doreen Guerin, formerly a sales manager, has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing. Jack Wayman, a specialist in convention center cleaning, was named assistant vice president for environmental and customer services.

Crawford leaves NAB
    <Expo Web News>   Wayne Crawford, Vice President, Exhibit Sales for the National Association of Broadcasters, is leaving his post Jan. 15 to become Executive Director of NXTcomm, a new event launched by the Telecommunications Industry Association and the United States Telecom Association that replaces separate events each association produced in 2006 after their long-time partnership on SUPERCOMM dissolved.

DON FREEMAN RECEIVES TOP INDUSTRY LEADERSHIP AWARD
   
<TORONTO > Donald S. Freeman Jr., CEO and chairman of the board of Dallas-based Freeman, was presented the 2006 Distinguished Member Award by the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) at the 51st PCMA Annual Meeting January 8 in Toronto.

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
