The 5th Annual
EACA/EDPA Chicago Charity Golf Outing, held Monday,
August 6 was the best success ever.
We are proud to contribute more than $10k to the RSMGC this
year! We are grateful to all who attended and
supported our efforts.

Causton, General Manager of McCormick Place, this one was in
celebration of his 50th birthday!

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT
Chicago RSMGC Golf Tournament Scores an Ace!
The Chicago EACA / EDPA Chapters held their 5th
Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the RSMGC on
August 6, 2007 at Maple Meadows Golf
Club in Wooddale, IL.
This year’s event was the most successful of any charity
event ever held to benefit the RSMGC and establishes a new high
for the Chicago event.
Many thanks to Nancy Virene, Kathy Bartol, Susan Renner and
all the volunteers for the 2007 event for making this
year’s tournament a great success.
Next Customer Service Training – December
2007
The Chicago Chapter of the EACA, in
conjunction with the MPEA and EACA National will be sponsoring
its 2nd Customer Service Training Program for showfloor workers
in Chicago in December of this year..
The second installment of the EACA Customer Service Training
Program will be developed and delivered by Randy Eppard, Phd in
Human Development. Eppard is an associate professor
for University of Maryland University
College, Prior to his professorship, Eppard
worked for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters as
Director of Training Curriculum. Randy developed th
customer service program under the direction and guidance of
Chicago Chapter EACA President Joe Mondelli.

Reed Expands in Housewares Industry and in China through
Joint Venture

Exhibitions has formed a joint venture with a leading Chinese
show organizer, Shenzhen Sinoexpo Exhibition Co. Ltd.
The move will bolster the current slate of
Shenzhen’s shows in the gift market, including the
flagship China (Shenzhen) International Gifts, Handicrafts,
Watches & Houseware Fair.
Laura McConnell, Head of MAGIC, to Leave
Advanstar <Trade Show
Executive> Laura McConnell, executive vice president of
Advanstar’s Fashion Group and a ten-year veteran of
Advanstar, will be leaving the company on Sept. 14 to
pursue new opportunities. The search for her replacement has
begun and several candidates have been interviewed for the
position.
VSS reports spending on exhibitions hit $10 billion in
2006 <Expo Web News>
Spending on exhibitions increased 6.1 percent in 2006 to
$10.30 billion, according to the Veronis Suhler and Stevenson
Communications Industry Forecast, compared with a 0.6 percent
increase for b-to-b publications to $10.94 billion.
New law expands Visa Waiver Program

President Bush has signed legislation that will
make it easier for more international attendees and exhibitors
to travel to U.S. shows. The law will expand the Visa Waiver
Program (VWP), making it possible for more countries to
participate.

Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor
Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of
service excellence on the showfloor."
This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members
each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.
Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz
are available to non-members for $49.95.
Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.
EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the
Buzz free of charge for a one time listing. Member
job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz
as well as posted to the EACA web site. The
costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2
months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
