Mark Your Calendars – EACA Annual Meeting July 28-29.     The EACA will hold its 10th Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA in conjunction with TS2 on July 28-29, 2008 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
 
All EACA members are urged to mark this year’s event on their calendar as we look to celebrate the milestone of our 10th Anniversary in style!!   More details to follow in future issues of the Showfloor Buzz!
 
EACA 10th Anniversary Member Directory.     The EACA, in conjunction with Exhibit City News, will be publishing a special edition of its membership directory to commemorate its 10th anniversary in 2008.   This high quality publication will not only feature our full list of members, it will also chronicle the significant events that have taken place in our 10 year history.  Special features will include photographs and descriptions of EACA events, Intrepid Award winners, Hall of Famers as well as other notable achievements of the EAC community.
 
The member directory will be published in time for distribution at this summer’s HCEA and TS2 events.   Be sure that your company is well represented in this exceptional publication.
 
Look for additional information about the member directory in future issues of the Showfloor Buzz.
 
EACA Calls for Intrepid Award / Hall of Fame Nominations     It’s that time of year once again when the EACA is looking to its members for nominations for the annual Intrepid Award, and for nominations for its sixth class to be inducted into the EACA Hall of Fame.   
 
Anyone interested in submitting a nomination can request a form by emailing jimwurm@eaca.com.

Save the Date for the 2008 RSMGC!
 
The 2008 Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic will take place at Chateau Elan on Friday, October 24, 2008 in Braselton, GA (outside of Atlanta).
 
The RSMGC would like to encourage all EACA members to support this year’s event, and is putting out a request for information on any potential recipients.   If you know of someone in our industry who is in financial need please be sure to forward them the RSMGC Assistance Application.

 And, be sure to take advantage of the Early Bird registration discounts and submit your registration before June 30 to receive the greatest savings.

Get Out of the Gutter to Benefit RSMGC     
The SE Chapter of the EDPA is organizing its first ever bowling event called “Get Out of the Gutter” to benefit the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic.  
Get Out of the Gutter will take place at 300 (2175 Savoy St, Atlanta) on June 4, 2008 from 5pm to 8pm.

Customer Service Training Announcement

EACA will be hosting first ever Customer Service Training in Washington DC during the week of June 16.

Customer Service Training Announcement

EACA will be hosting its next round of Customer Service Training at McCormick Place on June 11, 12, and 13.
The EACA Customer Service Training Program in June will include the premier of the Level 3  Customer Service training course, along with the Level 1 and Level 2 courses.
More details about the Customer Service Training Program will be available in future issues of the Showfloor Buzz.

TSEA Membership Woes Force Layoffs  <Trade Show Executive> The Trade Show Exhibitors Association (TSEA) laid off three of its five staff members last week, however, the association‚s president said its activities would not be curtailed. Stephen Schuldenfrei, president of the TSEA, declined to comment on the exact reason for the downsizing; however, he said that cost-cutting, due to a lack of growth in the membership rolls, was a factor. He told Trade Show Executive, “We are going to operate with all of the services we have had. We are just going to have to do it more efficiently.”

CEIR Index: Trade Shows Post Respectable Growth of 3.2% in 2007 <Trade Show Executive>   The average trade show grew 3.2% in 2007, according to the CEIR Index, released on April 7 by the Center for Exhibition Industry Research at the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) CEO Summit. Growth statistics were off from a high of 5.8% in 2005 but up significantly from 2002 when trade shows contracted 2.9%.

Gaylord National forced to evict microbes and mice   <Expo Web News> The brand new Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center has had a rough couple first weeks of operation. Last week the hotel underwent extensive cleaning after as many as 111 guests and two employees contracted the norovirus, according to the Prince George's County health department.

  The Showfloor Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor."  
 
This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
