As a courtesy to members, friends and colleagues of the EACA, we publish a weekly emailed industry newsletter that we call the Showfloor Buzz. A current copy of the Buzz is sent to all members each Wednesday to help keep them abreast of late breaking news that affects our industry, our companies, and our jobs. Friends and colleagues of the EACA are sent a past issue of the Buzz on the same day. All Showfloor Buzz's are ultimately archived here on our site and are searchable on a keyword search. If you are interested in a past issue of the Showfloor Buzz you can access it by clicking on the button for the appropriate year on the right. Thank you for your interest in the EACA and the Showfloor Buzz. Your comments and suggestions are welcome.

ARMA ’08 Show Kit Letter
Misunderstanding. The welcome letter in the
ARMA ’08 show kit warns its exhibitors to “beware of
non-official contractors”. Evidently this show
has experienced a number of occasions where its exhbitors were
taken advantage of by less than scrupulous service companies.
EACA inquired about this letter and got the following response
from show management.
“…My comments were never directed at an EAC offering
I&D services but at the organizations that contact ARMA
vendors for show-site services. I can give a long list of clients
who have been taken advantage of by Fair Guide, Expo Guide,
carpeting/flooring companies, cleaning vendors and housing
reservation companies. When ARMA vendors have issues with these
types of contractors, they turn to ARMA. In due diligence, it is
my responsibility to warn them of unscrupulous organizations.
ARMA does not take issue with any EAC offering reputable
services. These organizations make my job easier as a show
organizer…”

Hurricane Ike slams Galveston, spares
Houston <M&C Midweek
News> Hurricane Ike, which hit the Texas coast as a
category 2 storm on Saturday, has shut down Galveston, prompting
the Houston Chronicle to call it a "ruined city." Among
the area's top properties, the 428-room Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa
and Convention Center is scheduled to reopen Sept. 21. The
226-room Hotel Galvez and the 119-room Tremont House, both
Wyndham Historic Hotels, are closed indefinitely. The 239-room
Hilton Galveston Island Resort also is closed until further
notice.
In nearby Houston, the damage was not as dramatic, but several
events at the George R. Brown Convention Center have been
rescheduled, including this weekend's Theta Antiques Charity Show
and Houston Antique Deals, while the facility is used as a
temporary staging area for relief teams. Also, all
events at the city's Reliant Park facilities -- Reliant Stadium,
Reliant Center, Reliant Arena and Reliant Astrodome -- have been
canceled through Sept. 21.
