DEAR SHOWFLOOR
BUZZ
I'm with an EAC company in Florida, and my supervisor
asked me to find out about an EAC form for a show that is
coming up. We were told by one person that we
didn't need one and someone else said that we did, so we are
coming to you to see if we could get one. Any help that
you might be able to give would be great.
Thank you for you time,
<name withheld>
Dear
Withheld
Generally speaking show organizers require that exhibitors
notify them of their intent to use an EAC so that they can stay
appraised of all the contractors that will require access for
move-in and move-out.
Your responsibility, as an EAC, is to provide show management
with proof of your liability insurance. The show
organizer wants to know that your company is capable of
covering itself for any injuries to your employees, any product
damage to your client’s booth, or any building damage
that may occur on site due to your efforts.

GES®
Announces Petroleum Surcharge Program Las Vegas, October 31, 2005
– GES Exposition Services, Inc. announced today that in
response to significant increases in petroleum and
petroleum-based products during the past two years, it has
enacted a Petroleum Surcharge Program (PSP) to recover a
portion of those increased expenses.
GES is contacting its show organizer clients to provide
information about the surcharge. Because petroleum and
petroleum-based products comprise a significant portion of the
company’s costs, and because petroleum is a volatile
commodity, contracts include allowances for the PSP.
As petroleum costs have escalated, GES has held off on
introducing a petroleum surcharge, but during the last six
months the significant rise in petroleum costs has forced GES
to enact this surcharge,” said president and chief
executive officer Paul Dykstra. “In the past two
years, petroleum and products manufactured from petroleum such
as carpet, plastics and visqueen have continually increased,
and we need to recover a portion of those costs.”
The PSP will result
in a 2% increase on all services published in the exhibitor
service manual, with the exception of GES® Logistics, which
already has a fuel surcharge built into its rates. Information
about the PSP will be included in exhibitor service manuals,
and if the manual has already been produced, GES will contact
exhibitors prior to the show.
