This Just In!
The Buzz has learned that one of our EACA members took the
changing of clocks for daylight savings time literally this
year. It seems he must have turned his clock
back a full day this year, and only learned of his mistake when
he showed up for his flight out of town a day early!
He was last seen scratching his head and mumbling something
about “why don’t they call it HOUR-light savings
time?”
EACA PEOPLE
IN THE NEWS
Gail Flannery, wife of Steve Flannery of 1220 Exhibits, and
2006 Recipient of the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic passed
away peacefully last week with Steve by her side.
Gail was a tremendous person and I know she
appreciated all the prayers and support during her struggle
with cancer. May she rest in peace....

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT
Propane Use at McCormick
Place
The General Manager of McCormick Place
is pleased to announce that an implementation test for propane
operated fork lift trucks only has been approved by the Chicago
City Council following discussion with the Chicago Fire
Department.
This test will occur during Graph, PMMI (PACK Expo) and RSNA
Only. Overall use, storage and refueling procedures is the
responsibility of the General Contractor and will be closely
watched by the Chicago Fire Department.
The goal of the test is to demonstrate care and concern by the
facility and the general service contractors. The
Chicago Fire Department does understand the competitive edge
propane use has given other facilities. If this test is
successful, McCormick Place Management will began discussion with
the City of Chicago to allow the use of fork lift trucks at
MPEA.
MPEA Photo IDs

Graph, Pack and RSNA, McCormick Place is encouraging all

The McCormick Place ID Department is willing to expand office
hours and travel to any shop in order to accommodate any
request.

Prism Buys Penton
Media <Tradeshow
Week> Penton Media has been purchased by Prism Business
Media in an all-cash deal valued at $530 million.
ESA Beats CEA to the
Punch <Tradeshow Week>
Imagine scheduling a press conference for a Monday to
unveil a show launch – then learning, to your dismay, that
your competitor beat you to the punch on that preceding Friday
with its own announcement of a new show, on dates close to what
you had planned. This unlikely situation took place earlier this
month and involved two of the industry’s most successful
show organizers: the Entertainment Software Assn. (the victor)
and the Consumer Electronics Assn.
