DEAR SHOWFLOOR BUZZ
I just returned from the recent HIMMS show in New Orleans. As you know, this is a very robust market, and offers good business potential. Most EACs were well represented with sales/marketing personnel.
I was very disappointed by the conduct displayed by some of our members, as it pertains to overt solicitations within exhibitor’s booth spaces. In one instance, my client was approached in the center of the exhibit, as my crew was in full set up mode. In another instance, an exhibitor was approached, and solicited in the space, and the individual’s business card found in the booth.
Both companies involved are prominent members of our organization. One of the individuals, whose card I now have, is an industry veteran, and I will speak to him directly.
Obviously, these types of activities give EACs a bad reputation. They place us in an unfavorable light, particularly with Show Managers and General Contractors.
I’m writing in hope that you can impart the message that we must maintain ethical and professional conduct, particularly in such a visible forum. It appears some of us have forgotten. Sincerely, Jim
James Murphy Vice President of Sales Renaissance Management, Inc. Dear Jim We couldn’t agree more. Thanks for your letter. Jim Wurm, Executive Director EACA

ISSA Sweeps Anaheim Out of Its Rotation <Tradeshow Week> One city's loss was another's gain when ISSA decided to move its show, ISSA/Interclean USA, from the Anaheim Convention Center to the Las Vegas Convention Center in 2008. Las Vegas, of course, is pleased: "It will have a huge economic impact," said Chris Meyer, senior vice president of convention center sales for the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority.
NXTcomm Hires Forlenza and Herman <Tradeshow Week> NXTcomm snagged two more tradeshow veterans for its team, Jim Forlenza and Bill Herman, who most recently ran their own company, Agile Events. THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Start it; you don't have to be fancy.
Keep moving; you don't have to go crazy.
Visualize; you don't have to admit it.
See the end result; it doesn't have to be material.
Expect miracles; they don't have to be huge.
Pretend you've arrived; you don't have to dance on tables.
And above all else have fun. This is why you started it, right? Life, what a trip –
