EACA Annual Meeting Information Coming Soon! The EACA is hosting its 9th Annual Conference in Washington DC on July 30-31, 2007. This year’s event will place a special focus on Business Development in the 21st Century. EACA members and their sales forces will learn how to transition from “transactional selling” to “strategic selling” by way of our high powered conference program. Please be sure to look for your Annual Conference materials coming soon, and make plans to attend the conference that will propel your company to the next level.
EACA Intrepid Award / Hall of Fame Ballots Coming Next Week. It’s that time of year once again when the EACA will be distributing ballots for the annual Intrepid Award, and for for its fifth class to be inducted into the EACA Hall of Fame. All employees of EACA member companies are eligible to vote.
New Agreement in San Francisco. The Exhibit Display & Trade Show members of Local 510 voted overwhelmingly to ratify the new collective bargaining agreement for the trade show industry last week. The new contract is effective April 1, 2007 through March 31, 2010 and was implemented upon ratification.
Las Vegas Labor Negotiations Begin GES Exposition Services, Freeman and other convention industry contractors have begun negotiations with Las Vegas Teamsters Local 631. Negotiations continue and all parties are working toward an agreement that will benefit the workers, the union, the employers, our mutual clients and the Las Vegas exhibition industry. The current contract expires on May 31, 2007.
Orlando Contract Expires August 31, 2007 A reminder for all EACA members that are signatory to the Stagehands contract in Orlando that the current contract expires on Auguust 31, 2007. EACA CHAPTERS

CHICAGO CHAPTER ANNOUNCEMENT Customer Service Training
The Chicago Chapter of the EACA, in conjunction with the MPEA and EACA National will be sponsoring a Customer Service Training initiative for showfloor workers in Chicago. The Customer Service Training Program will take place on June 25 and 26 at McCormick Place in Room N427. Showfloor workers in Chicago will have the option of taking part in this four program on either June 25 or June 26. The 4 hour program will be delivered 4 different times over the two day period – with one program delivered each morning, and one each afternoon. The EACA Customer Service Training Program was developed and will be delivered by Randy Eppard, Phd in Human Development. Eppard is an associate professor for University of Maryland University College, Prior to his professorship, Eppard worked for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters as Director of Training Curriculum. Randy developed th customer service program under the direction and guidance of Chicago Chapter EACA President Joe Mondelli. EACA members will also be able to take advantage of a Train the Trainer session which will be offered on June 27 in Room N427 at the McCormick Place. The Train the Trainer session will allow designated EACA members, and staff, to become certified in delivering future Customer Service Training programs. WEST HALL TOURS FOR EACA MEMBERS
Any EACA members interested to take a tour of the new West Hall of McCormick Place can do so on June 26, 2007. There will be two tours available on that day (maximum capacity of 50 for each). The first tour will take place at 10am on June 26, and the second tour will take place at 11:15am. To secure your spot on either of those tours please respond by email to jimwurm@eaca.com. Remember space is limited and requests will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no other offering of this kind so this is your best chance to get a look at the West Hall before it. NO SMOKING REMINDER All EACA members are reminded that McCormick Place is a NO SMOKING facility. Whether you are on the show floor, in your storage cage, or in your office at McCormick Place the No Smoking policy must be observed. Building management at MPEA has observed violations to this policy recently and wants to notify members of the EACA that the Fire Safety department will continue to issue smoking tickets. Your cooperation is appreciated! Chicago RSMGC Golf Tournament Announcement The Chicago EACA / EDPA Chapters have announced that the 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the RSMGC will take place on August 6, 2007 at Maple Meadows Golf Club in Wooddale, IL. INDUSTRY NEWS NY Official Says Smaller Javits Expansion Planned <ESCA News> Patrick Foye, New York's top economic development official, has announced the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center expansion will be confined to 300,000 square feet at a cost of $1.8 billion. Foye made the announcement at a breakfast forum of 500 people sponsored by Crain's New York Business. The expansion plan had been criticized by tradeshow executives and government officials as too expensive for not enough additional space.
Dolaher Is Ready to Run the IDG Game <Tradeshow Week> Mary Dolaher is ready to don the title of IDG World Expo CEO. David Korse stepped down from the post in October, and didn't take long for Bob Carrigan, president of IDG Communications (IDG World Expo's parent company), to find a suitable replacement. A month later, he offered the job to Dolaher, but she wasn't interested in that particular job at the time.
Champion Nationwide Contractor and George E. Fern Company have announced the recent acquisition of The Audie Group. Located in Orlando, Florida, this marks both Champion and Fern’s first expansion into the Florida marketplace. Jim Audie will assume the role of General Manager in the Orlando Facility.
