Make Plans to Attend the 10th Annual Conference!    The EACA is hosting its 10th Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA on July 28-29, 2008, in conjunction with TS2.   This year’s event will place a special focus on the EACA’s 10th Anniversary.    EACA members are invited to come together to celebrate this milestone as we review the accomplishments of the past ten years and begin to chart our course for the next ten.
 
The EACA 10th Anniversary Conference information contains complete descriptions of all sessions and events.       In addition, the EACA Conference Registration form and Sponsor form has complete information for participating in this year’s event.     If you have difficulty accessing any of this information please send an email to jimwurm@eaca.com .

EACA 10th Anniversary Member Directory.     The EACA, in conjunction with Exhibit City News, will be publishing a special edition of its membership directory to commemorate its 10th anniversary in 2008.    This high quality publication will not only feature our full list of members, it will also chronicle the significant events that have taken place in our 10 year history.  Special features will include photographs and descriptions of EACA events, Intrepid Award winners, Hall of Famers as well as other notable achievements of the EAC community.

DEAR SHOWFLOOR BUZZ

It was just one week and a day ago that I sent the hardest email of my
life to notify everyone that my father's health was not doing well.  It is with a mix of emotions that I send you this email on Sunday, June 1st.

This morning, about an hour ago, my father, James (Jim) Harvey Dock  (formerly with Heritage Communications, Nth Degree, Expotechnik) passed away peacefully in his home.

Funeral arrangements are still being finalized, but we know that the Funeral will be next Saturday, June 7th at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Get Out of the Gutter to Benefit RSMGC     
The SE Chapter of the EDPA is organizing its 2nd Annual bowling event called “Get Out of the Gutter” to benefit the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic.  
Get Out of the Gutter will take place at 300 (2175 Savoy St, Atlanta) on June 4, 2008 from 5pm to 8pm.

Customer Service Training Announcement

EACA will be hosting its next round of Customer Service Training at McCormick Place on June 11, 12, and 13.

The EACA Customer Service Training Program in June will include the premier of the Level 3  Customer Service training course, along with the Level 1 and Level 2 courses.    Additional information about the June Customer Service Training can be found on the EACA web site.  To register your people for the June Customer Service Training in Chicago contact jimwurm@eaca.com as soon as possible.
 
6th Annual Golf Outing to Benefit RSMGC     
The Chicago Chapters of the EACA and EDPA announced the dates for their 6th Annual Golf Outing to benefit the RSMGC.

This scramble golf event will take place at Maple Meadows Golf Club in Wood Dale, IL on Monday, August 4, 2008 with a 1pm shotgun start.  Golf will be followed by a dinner reception with raffle prizes.

MIKE LAMOREAUX JOINS FREEMAN IN LAS VEGAS AS DIRECTOR OF MATERIAL HANDLING     Chris Schimek, Freeman’s general manager in Las Vegas, announced today that Mike Lamoreaux has joined the company’s Las Vegas operation as director of material handling. Lamoreaux comes from Yellow Transportation, where he was senior director of exhibit services. He is replacing Terry Corbin, a long-time Freeman employee who is relocating to the Freeman office in Dallas.

Reed Sells Defense Shows    <Tradeshow Week> Reed Elsevier, the parent company of Reed Exhibitions, sold the three remaining defense tradeshows in its portfolio – DSEi (Defense Systems and Equipment Intl.), ITEC  and LAAD (Latin American Aero and Defense) – to U.K.-based Clarion Events. Last year, Reed announced its intention to sell its five defense shows and exit the sector.
 
Competing Textile Shows to Launch in L.A.    <Tradeshow Week> In the same week, two show management firms have announced they will hold textile shows at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Urban Expositions will launch Material World West Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2009. Market Center Management, which owns the Dallas Market Center, will hold GlobalTex April 21-23 and Oct. 13-15, 2009, also at the Los Angeles CC. Urban Expositions will hold its Material World April 21-23 at the Miami Beach Convention Center as previously planned, during the same dates as the April GlobalTex.

Publisher's statement.   The Showfloor Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor."  
 
This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.
 
EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
