Gorbett Elected to EACA Hall of Fame.
Upon tallying the votes for the 2008 class of the
EACA Hall of Fame, Dick Gorbett, formerly of Global Van Lines
and Atlas Van Lines has been elected to the EACA Hall of
Fame.
The induction ceremonies for the EACA Hall of Fame will be
conducted at the Awards Luncheon at the EACA Annual Conference
on Monday, July 28 in Philadelphia.
Congratulations once again to all our Hall of Fame

Make Plans to Attend our 10th Annual
Conference! The EACA is hosting
its 10th Annual Conference in Philadelphia, PA on July 28-29,
2008, in conjunction with TS2. This year’s
event will place a special focus on the EACA’s
10th Anniversary. EACA members are
invited to come together to celebrate this milestone as we
review the accomplishments of the past ten years and begin to
chart our course for the next ten.

6th Annual Golf Outing to Benefit RSMGC
The Chicago Chapters of the EACA and EDPA announced the dates
for their 6th Annual Golf Outing to benefit the RSMGC.
This scramble golf event will take place at Maple Meadows Golf
Club in Wood Dale, IL on Monday, August 4,
2008 with a 1pm shotgun start.
Golf will be followed by a dinner
reception with raffle prizes.

CEIR releases updated
reports <Expo Web News>
The Dallas-based Center for Exhibition Industry
Research (CEIR) has announced the release of seven updated
reports. The reports now contain data obtained from surveys
conducted in 2007. The updated reports include:
• Exhibitions Attract New Prospects
• Exhibitions Attract Market of Visitors with Buying
Authority
• More Than One-Third of Attendees Do Not Attend Other
Exhibitions
• The Average Traffic Density for Exhibitions
• The Distance Attendees Travel for an Exhibition
• How Much Time Attendees Spend at Exhibitions
• First-Time Attendees vs. Seasoned Attendees
All seven reports have been added to the CEIR Resource
Library, which offers exhibition-related marketing and research
reports, presentations, free resources and the ROI Tool
Kit.
IRS Adjusts Mileage Rate
<M&C Midweek News> In a rare mid-year
adjustment, the Internal Revenue Service, which usually sets
mileage reimbursement rates in fall, has increased the rate
business travelers can claim by eight cents, to 58.5 cents per
mile, effective yesterday.
Leading Hotel Exec Michael Dimond
Dies of Heart Attack <Trade Show
Executive> Michael Dimond, whose four-decade career in the
hotel and convention industry culminated with his retirement in
2006 as senior vice president of sales and marketing at The
Broadmoor, died of a heart attack June 23.
Interbike Isn't Leaving Las
Vegas <Tradeshow Week>
Nielsen Business Media's Interbike Intl. Bicycle
Expo decided that after two years of collecting potential host
city data, as well as retailer, manufacturer and industry
partner feedback, it would stay in Las Vegas.

(EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service
excellence on the showfloor."
This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members
each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.
Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz
are available to non-members for $49.95.

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the
Buzz free of charge for a one time listing. Member
job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz
as well as posted to the EACA web site. The
costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2
months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
