Chicago Chapter Meeting

The Chicago Chapter of the EACA will host a meeting at McCormick Place for all members on Monday, October 27 at 10am in Rm E153.      This is your chance to share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas with your EAC colleagues on what the EACA and the Chicago Chapter can do to make trade shows in Chicago  better than ever!

A continental breakfast will be provided, courtesy of the EACA Chicago Chapter.

EACA Customer Service Training Announcement

Orlando Chapter News

OCCC Reminder

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) has implemented a new Contractor Security Program for all contractors that work there.   The new program will allow the OCCC to consolidate contractor information, to better track required documentation, and to directly communicate with all of its approved contractors.   The further intention of this program is to help improve the overall security of the convention center and its guests.

 

The EACA has been retained by the OCCC to administer this program and to maintain an online database of registered companies.

 

If you have yet to register for the OCCC program, and intend to work in the facility during the next year, please do so immediately, and use the OCCC Contractor Security Agreement form.

All contractors who have completed the OCCC Contractor Security Agreement and are approved to work in the building can be seen on the EACA web site under the “Facilities” tab at the top of the home page.

Combined air, hotel and car costs expected to increase 13 percent in 2009    <Expo Web News>    Combined air, hotel and car costs are expected to increase 13 percent in 2009, according to the 2009 Industry Forecast released by London-based Advito, a travel management consulting firm. The price hikes can be attributed to unfavorable currency exchange rates, rising local taxes and market uncertainty.

 

Trade Show Industry Salutes the Present, Ponders the Future at TSE Gold 100 Awards Gala & Summit   <Trade Show Executive>   It was the trade show industry’s rendition of the Academy Awards with the leaders, innovators and celebrities of show biz gathering to celebrate the success of the 100 top shows at Trade Show Executive’s Gold 100 Awards Gala & Summit September 17-19 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel & Resort in Laguna Niguel, CA.  Nielsen Business Media won a Grand Award as “The Top Show Organizer” of 2007. The Radiological Society of North America’s RSNA Scientific Assembly & Annual Meeting documented the “Highest Economic Impact on a Host City.” SEMICON was heralded as “The Leading Brand Worldwide” with eight shows bearing the SEMICON name. In the category, “Most Innovative Practices,” there was no competition once The SEMA Show entered.

 

Penton Media Names Sharon Rowlands CEO  <Trade Show Executive>  Penton Media, Inc. named Sharon Rowlands, former president and CEO of Thomson Financial, as its new CEO effective November 1. Rowlands will replace John French, who announced in July he would step down when a new CEO was hired. She will also take a seat on the Penton Board of Directors.

Publisher's statement.    The Showfloor Buzz is a publication of the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association (EACA) which is dedicated to "raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor." 

 

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.

 

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
