Nth Degree To Raise Money for the 14th Annual Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic    Nth Degree will be making a special effort to raise funds for the RSMGC this year by reaching out to all employees on the showfloor in cities across the country.
 
This company-wide event will take place on October 08 – 10, 2008 for most Nth Degree cities including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, D.C., Dallas, Houston, Las Vegas, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando and San Francisco, and on October 15 -16, 2008 for Seattle, San Antonio, Southern California, Denver, New York, Philadelphia and Phoenix only, based on show schedules.    Over these days Nth Degree will be collecting money through all of our city offices .   At the end of the fundraiser, Nth Degree will match all contributions and will present the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic with a collective donation.
 
Three Nth Degree employees and their families have benefited from the RSMGC over the past 14 years including Frankie Pozza, Sherry Reynolds and Wayne Veal. This year’s recipients include the families of two Nth Degree associates: Jim Dock, aformer Nth Degree employee and Keri Lee Ann Mincy,  the daughter of Ron Mincy, from The Design Agency.

Viscovich To Receive IAEE Chairman’s Award.    The Showfloor Buzz has learned that Ken Viscovich, International Rep for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, will be recognized at the IAEE (International Association of Exhibitions and Events) Annual Meetiing with their Chairman’s Award.
 
Viscovich won the EACA Intrepid Award in 2007 for his work to remove drugs and alcohol from the trade show floor by inspiring and promoting a nationwide campaign for Drug & Alchohol Testing in the trade show industry.

Chicago Chapter Meeting
The Chicago Chapter of the EACA will host a meeting at McCormick Place for all members on Monday, October 27 at 10am in Rm E153.      This is your chance to share your thoughts, concerns, and ideas with your EAC colleagues on what the EACA and the Chicago Chapter can do to make trade shows in Chicago better than ever!

A continental breakfast will be provided, courtesy of the EACA Chicago Chapter.

Orlando Chapter News

OCCC Reminder

The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) has implemented a new Contractor Security Program for all contractors that work there.  The new program will allow the OCCC to consolidate contractor information, to better track required documentation, and to directly communicate with all of its approved contractors.  The further intention of this program is to help improve the overall security of the convention center and its guests.
 
The EACA has been retained by the OCCC to administer this program and to maintain an online database of registered companies.
 
If you have yet to register for the OCCC program, and intend to work in the facility during the next year, please do so immediately, and use the OCCC Contractor Security Agreement form.

Priest-Heck named CEO of WCP Exposition Services   <Expo Web News> Bob Priest-Heck has been promoted to CEO of WCP Exposition Services LLC (WCP Expo), an event marketing holding company that includes Champion Exposition Services, the George Fern Company and Immersa Marketing.
 
 
San Diego Prepares to Expand. <M&C News> The San Diego Convention Center Corp. took its first step toward expanding the convention center by up to half a million square feet. Last week, the board voted unanimously to purchase a one-year lease of an 8.5-acre piece of land adjacent to the facility for a price of $1 million, in part to prevent any other developers from leasing the property.
 
Green East Has New Dates, Venue    <Tradeshow Week>  Green Media Enterprises has moved its show, Green East, to a new venue, as well as changed the dates and collocated with The Architectural Digest Design Home Show, which is produced by Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. Green East, previously scheduled to launch in October at the Jacob K. Javits Center of New York, will be held March 26-28 at Pier 90 in New York City.
 
USA NIAGARA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION SELECTS GLOBAL SPECTRUM
TO OPERATE CONFERENCE CENTER
    USA Niagara Development Corporation (USAN) approved Global Spectrum, a national leader in managing public assembly facilities, as the preferred manager of the USAN owned and developed 116,000-sq. ft. Conference Center Niagara Falls (CCNF). Global Spectrum, based in Philadelphia, PA, is a subsidiary of internationally recognized sports and entertainment leader Comcast-Spectacor.

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later.   Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95.    Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.co

EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing.   Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site.    The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
