Happy Thanksgiving! The EACA would like to extend its best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving to all our members.
Due to the short work week, the EACA Showfloor Buzz will not be published next week. The next issue of the Showfloor Buzz will be emailed on December 3.
Mark Your Calendars for the EACA Winter Meeting The EACA will be holding its Winter Meeting in conjunction with EDPA again this year – so please be sure to mark your calendars.
The meeting will take place in Maimi, FL from December 3-5, 2008 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. To register for the conference go the EDPA web site at www.edpa.com. Be sure to include your status as an EACA member, so we get credit from EDPA for your participation.
Also please note that the EDPA has reserved a block of rooms at the Doral Golf Resort * Spa, at a special group rate, over the Conference dates. EACA members are encouraged to make their reservations as soon as possible. Rooms within the block are limited, and are available on a first-come/first-served basis. Room rate is $179, single or double, plus tax (approx 10%).
Please contact the hotel for information on suites. You can make your reservations by calling (888) 236-2427, or by calling the hotel directly at (305) 592-2000.
When making your hotel reservation, identify yourself as part of the Exhibit Designers & Producers Association group. A credit card is required to reserve your reservation; card will not be charged until arrival at the hotel.
Airport Transportation
The Miami airport is approximately 10 miles from the Doral Golf Resort & Spa.
EACA Board to Meet in Miami on December 2. The EACA Board of Directors will be meeting at the EACA Winter Meeting held in conjunction with EDPA on December 2 at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa. The meeting will take place in the Executive Lodge in the Bayberry Room from 12pm to 5pm.
ELITeXPO Cargo Systems, inc. Joins U.S. EPA SmartWaySM Transport Partnership ELITeXPO Cargo Systems, Inc., a provider of trade show transportation services, announced that it has joined the SmartWaySM Transport Partnership. The SmartWaySM Partnership is a voluntary collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the freight industry designed to increase energy efficiency while significantly reducing adverse environmental impacts. Specifically, SmartWaySM Transport programs lower emissions of carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and particulate matter. By 2012, SmartWay partners will help save between 3.3 and 6.6 billion gallons of fuel per year (equivalent to 150 million barrels of oil or 12 million cars off the road).
EACA CS Training in Philly The EACA will be presenting is Level 1 Customer Service training program to the Metropolitan Regional Council of Carpenters in Philadelphia next week. The training program will take place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia and will be held in Room 301 on Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25.
The EACA Customer Service training program was developed and will be delivered once again by Randy Eppard, Ph.d. of Legacy Management.
Ron Mestichelli, Spectrum Show Services (EACA President), Bruce Cantwell, On Location (EACA Treasurer), and John O’Shea, Czarnowski (EACA Secretary) all plan to be in attendance as representatives of the EACA. And, Ken Viscovich, Internationall Representatives of the UBC, will also be in attendance along with leadership of the Philadlephia local, headed up by Ed Coryell, Jr.

RSNA/ EAC Meeting Announcement RSNA Technical Exhibits Department asks that representatives from any EAC companies working at RSNA attend a brief welcome meeting during move-in on Tuesday , November 25, at 9:30 am in Room S402AB/McCormick Place South. Please join us to review the guidelines for trash removal, booth set up and labor staging for dismantle. At least one representative from each company should plan to attend. EAC Annual Meeting Announcement
The LVCVA will be hosting its annual meeting for EACs on Tuesday, December 12 at the conclusion of the EACA Customer Service Training program that day. Look for more details about this meeting in future issues of the Showfloor Buzz.

OCCC Reminder
The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) has implemented a new Contractor Security Program for all contractors that work there. The new program will allow the OCCC to consolidate contractor information, to better track required documentation, and to directly communicate with all of its approved contractors. The further intention of this program is to help improve the overall security of the convention center and its guests.
The EACA has been retained by the OCCC to administer this program and to maintain an online database of registered companies.
If you have yet to register for the OCCC program, and intend to work in the facility during the next year, please do so immediately, and use the OCCC Contractor Security Agreement form.

McKay Named Senior VP for World Market Center Las Vegas <Trade Show Executive>
Phillip McKay joined World Market Center Las Vegas as senior vice president. The newly created position oversees the development of existing and future trade shows at the venue and has responsibility for leasing to the gift, rugs, lighting and decorative accessories segments. McKay was previously the president and CEO of PPM Media, a trade show production company that he founded.
New Leadership at SISO Developing New Business Model <Trade Show Executive> The new management of the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) is working on some potential changes to its popular CEO Summit held each Spring. Britton Jones, president and CEO of Business Journals, Inc. and the new chairman of SISO, said that the developments were part of a “re-evaluation” of the organization that coincides with its management being turned over to Shomex Productions this year after The Rebedeau Group’s 11-year tenure ends.
Airline Industry News <M&C Midweek News> Three U.S. airports will unveil new runways on Thursday, all designed to increase capacity as well as reduce delays, particularly in low-visibility conditions. Chicago's O'Hare airport will open a new runway and air traffic control tower, part of a $6.6 billion modernization project; it's the first runway to open at O'Hare since 1971. Seattle-Tacoma's new $1 billion, 8,500-foot runway will be the airport's third, while the new $355 million, 9,400-foot runway at Dulles International Airport, in Washington, D.C., is that airport's fourth.

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later. Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95. Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.
EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing. Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site. The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
