EACA Brings Customer Service Training to Las Vegas. In support of its ongoing efforts to “raise the level of service excellence on the showfloor", the EACA will bring its Customer Servcie Training Program to Las Vegas on December 15 and 16.
The Las Vegas training program will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Room S219 and will begin each day at 8am.
Additional details are available in the Las Vegas Chapter section of this issue of the Buzz.
LVCVA Hosts EACs at Annual Meeting. The Las Vegas Convention/Visitors Authority will host the EAC community in Las Vegas for an annual meeting at the Las Vegas Convention Center on December 16.
The EAC Meeting will take place at 2pm in Room S219 following the EACA Customer Service Training program which takes place earlier that day.
The annual EAC meeting is an opportunity for all EACs in Las Vegas to meet with facility management to receive an update on facility plans and to review operational and logistical issues of concern.
All EACA members in Las Vegas are encouraged to take part in the meetng!
EITF To Meet December 18. The Exhibit Industry Task Force is scheduled to meet, via conference call, next week on December 18 to discuss new developments in the effort to make nationwide Drug Testing a reality in the trade show industry.

OCCC Reminder
The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) has implemented a new Contractor Security Program for all contractors that work there. The new program will allow the OCCC to consolidate contractor information, to better track required documentation, and to directly communicate with all of its approved contractors. The further intention of this program is to help improve the overall security of the convention center and its guests.
The EACA has been retained by the OCCC to administer this program and to maintain an online database of registered companies.
If you have yet to register for the OCCC program, and intend to work in the facility during the next year, please do so immediately, and use the OCCC Contractor Security Agreement form.

Expo! Expo! Opens <Tradeshow Week> Bob Eubanks, host of the "Newlywed Game," shared clips from the famous show and awarded the winners of the Intl. Assn. of Exhibitions and Events Opening General Session of Expo! Expo! IAEE's Annual Meeting & Exhibition, including the Chairman’s Award to Ken Viscovich of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters.
Washington CC Considers Expansion <M&C Midweek News> According to a report in the Washington Business Journal, an $8 million to $10 million renovation and expansion of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., is being considered. The work would add 40,000 square feet of meeting space to the facility's current 150,000 square feet. The center also has 703,000 square feet for exhibitions and 52,000 square feet of ballroom space. The paper reports the Washington Convention Center Authority plans to use some space from the center's grand lobby for the additions, and to install a vertical "sky wall" system to drop dividers down from the ceiling to section off rooms. Approval of the proposal is needed from the D.C. Council.
BlogWorld Expo acquires New Media Expo <Expo Web News> Blogging trade show and conference BlogWorld Expo has acquired New Media Expo, an annual convention focusing on the production of high-quality audio and video digital content. BlogWorld plans to call the new combined event BlogWorld & New Media Expo, which will focus on the blogging and new media industries. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

This publication is sent free of charge to all EACA members each Wednesday, and to non-members four weeks later. Annual subscriptions to current issues of the Buzz are available to non-members for $49.95. Please send subscription requests to jimwurm@eaca.com.
EACA members are also permitted to submit job postings to the Buzz free of charge for a one time listing. Member job postings can be extended for additional weeks in the Buzz as well as posted to the EACA web site. The costs for extending your job posting are one month for $50, 2 months for $85, and 3 months for $125.
