Jim,

I have included a web link that might be helpful for you and your staff.

PS
It is also good to have individual alcohol based hand sanitizers available for your staff as well. A spray sanitizer is better at penetrating under the fingernails & cuticles were pathogens reside.

INDUSTRY NEWS

MPEA and IBEW 134 Agree to Workforce Reorganization   The MPEA announced today a reorganization of its resident workforce of electricians (Focus One) to further improve quality, efficiency and customer service on the show floor.  The reorganization reflects collaboration between MPEA and IBEW Local 134.

After an extensive evaluation of the pool in-house electricians (had included up to 150 electricians), the MPEA will retain a standing workforce of 50 electricians, who will be designated as foremen and floor supervisors, to service shows there.    Ton answer the electrical needs of shows, on a case by case basis, MPEA will work with Local 134 to supplement this workforce by choosing electricians from the broader pool represented by Local 134.    This will allow the MPEA to refresh its electrician workforce with those that demonstrate exceptional skill and efficiency.

Windy City Gets Windfall   <Tradeshow Week> With hotel occupancy hovering at 68.4 percent in July, compared with 73.2 percent during the same period last year, the Illinois state government decided to do something to help out Chicago's hoteliers, as well as the city's convention and tradeshow industry.
That something was legislation recently signed by Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn that will provide up to $10 million a year for rebates to new shows that go to the Windy City.
“We're very excited about this,” said Jan Kostner, deputy director of the Illinois Bureau of Tourism. “It's something that will attract new conventions. It's an extremely competitive industry.”
She added the funds would be used for rebates on cost points, such as transportation and space rental at McCormick Place and Navy Pier. To qualify, Kostner said, an event has to have more than 10,000 attendees. “The cost of the fund is far outweighed by the economic impact one of these shows would have,” she added.
As far as helping out the hotel industry, Kostner said, “The general hope is it would add more room nights.”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

When the first Superman movie came out, I gave dozens of interviews to promote it. The most frequent question was: What is a hero? My answer was that a hero is someone who commits a courageous action without considering the consequences. Now my definition is completely different. I think a hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles. They are the real heroes, and so are the families and friends who have stood by them.
