EACA  Showfloor Buzz
Vol. 5, Issue 38,  October 9, 2002

Hello to all EACA members and friends!    The Showfloor Buzz is published each week to keep EACA members abreast of the most recent developments in our industry.   More importantly,  we hope the Buzz creates a sense of community and collaboration that is vital to our industry's success.

EACA NEWS

Congratulations to the Organizers of the 8th Annual Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic.   The EACA would like to extend its congratulations to the organizers of the Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic.   For the eight year, many in our industry pulled together to participate in an event to benefit the families of those showfloor workers who have fallen upon financial hardship.   More than 220 golfers took part in this year's event at the Berkeley Hills Country Club, many of whom were EACA members.

Kudos certainly go out to Event Founders, Rich Johnson and Ted Peterson, this year's title sponsor, EDPA, and all the many volunteers who make this event possible.  Your generous contributions make us all proud with an event that really puts the rest of what we do in perspective.

Next years event is tentatively scheduled for Monday October 6th @ Berkeley Hills Country Club in Duluth.   Mark your calendars.

EACA Committee on Best Practices to Meet Again on October 24.  EACA's ad hoc committee for the development of a Best Practices document for Third Party Billing will plan to meet again (via conference call) on October 24 to discuss the first draft of the Billing Best Practices Recommendation.   The committee has established a goal for having a published recommendation by the beginning of the New Year.

DEAR SHOWFLOOR BUZZ

I read your article about the concern over whether the remaining "Big Three" will be able to fill the void left by CFWY.  Make no mistake, we at Yellow are positioning ourselves to do just that.  We have hired CF's former Director of Trade Shows Mike Lamoreaux and have promoted Alex Clark into a Director's position as well to handle the additional requirements in terms of personnel, resources, and the like.  We are already talking to CF about their equipment and have positioned ourselves with various leasing companies to fill any gap.  The transition with those General Service Contractor's that have switched to Yellow has been smooth and we have yet to complete our accumulation of resources.  Fortunately for the industry, Yellow recognized this market segment as an important part of our portfolio and have a department that is committed to growing this segment.

I thought you should know that we look forward to filling the gap that was left behind in the wake of CF.

Regards,

Bill Schwar
