People in the News

Donald Svehla, Sr, lost his 11 month battle with lung cancer on July 5. He is survived by three children: Laura, Donald Jr., and David.

Don spent his entire life in the trucking industry and was considered an expert on freight handling and logistics. My dad was a partner of McCormick Display(MDC) for roughly 10 years starting in 1980, MDC was a full service display house based in the Chicagoland area. At that time, under his direction, MDC was the only builder having a full service trucking fleet to service their customers both locally & nationwide. He also spearheaded the opening of a Las Vegas office and warehouse facility for McCormick Display back in the early 80's.

He is also credited with popularizing the use of the hydraulic fifth wheel, instrumental in expediting exhibit freight handling in & out of convention centers in Las Vegas. His company, Equipment Specialties, sold & leased all types of semi trailers and other equipment.

The EACA sends its condolences to the Svehla family.
