JOB COSTING SOFTWARE

QRecently a member send out a request to see if anyone could recommend good off-the-shelf job costing software package.

A.  I use Businessworks by SAGE.  www.sage.com.    It tracks job costs by job number, task codes and hourly rates.

When entering payroll, I enter the job number, task codes and pay rate.  After payroll is complete, I can pull up a job cost report that tells me how many hours were spent loading the truck, traveling to the job site, installing, doing something extra for the client, dismantling, etc.and the rate of pay the laborer received.   Of course, my crew has to record their task codes on their time cards.  The software costs probably in the range of $2500 - $5000 and will need a professional to set it up at first.
